Meet Komail Aijazuddin

Komail Aijazuddin is a Pakistani-American author, artist, and writer whose work explores identity, faith, migration, queerness, and the small-theatre dramas of everyday longing. His studio practice spans painting, drawing, sculpture, and large-scale installation.

His debut book, Manboobs: A Memoir of Musicals, Visas, Hope, and Cake (2024) was named one of the best books of the year by The Washington Post, Apple Books, Publishers Weekly, Kirkus Reviews, among many others. It was shortlisted for the 2025 Lambda Literary Award for Memoir/Biography as well as long-listed for the National Book Critics Circle Award in Autobiography. Manboobs was published by Abrams Press in the US and Transworld/DoubleDay Books internationally.

Aijazuddin is represented by the Barney Karpfinger Agency. He lives and works in New York City.
